GenoBank.io is proud to announce a partnership with NiMEDix, a Nigerian based blockchain/AI company looking to bridging the gap in remittances, promoting collaboration and partnerships, diversification of healthcare funding and creating access to healthcare services.
Africa's untapped economic potential is no secret, with population soaring past 1.3 billion, 2/3rd of its composition is youths below the ages of 25, such a bulge in population fuels the digital market.
As United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres puts it, “it’s abundantly clear that a much deeper, faster and more ambitious response is needed to unleash the social and economic transformation needed to achieve our 2030 goals”
Both blockchain and the development of African economy may be in their nascent phases but the opportunities are unmistakable. The inefficiencies that have plagued traditional centralized systems and the collateral effects sets a stage for technology in this 4IR (4th Industrial Revolution) to bring about a radical change.
Blockchain is a system of recording information in a way that makes it difficult or impossible to change, hack, or cheat the system. A blockchain is essentially a digital ledger of transactions that is duplicated and distributed across the entire network of computer systems on the blockchain.
“Although the government is brainstorming to resolve this crisis, it could become catastrophic if it fails to embrace and fully leverage ready technologies in handling the pandemic,” Ochoche Ubenyi, chief executive officer at NiMEDix said. NiMEDix and GenoBank.io has created a solution that generates Covid-19 certificates on the ERC 721 Blockchain; a 100 percent immutable, transparent, and verifiable database on the blockchain public network, therefore, allowing governments all over the world to have a single ‘point of truth’.
This innovative solution is timely. It is capable of resolving disagreements between airlines and national governments such as the one between Nigeria and the Emirates airline, over the instances of fake negative Covid-19 test result certificates. The Covid-19 testing fraud is particularly damaging for the African nations because of the vast amount of people in need of testing and the fact that those with confirmed coronavirus infection have less access to health facilities. The problem is compounded by a lack of proper diagnostic laboratory equipment and in many cases not accessible.
GenoBank.io and NiMEDix are securing biodata with blockchain, to deploy a global-scale solution for verifiable and tamper-proof Covid-19 vaccine certificates. It works as a trusted and immutable digital identity that is trusted for the management, registration, and management of medical records in a globally compliant way. This is done via Ethereum blockchain that has millions of data records that can be combined to provide a more comprehensive and reliable identity authentication and management system.
